Critical Sperm Motility Findings
Recent research demonstrates that certain catheter coatings can significantly impact reproductive health. Studies show that PVP-coated catheters caused a significant reduction in progressive spermatozoa motility (p<0.001), with velocities falling below the critical threshold of 25 µm/s required for successful human fertilization.
In contrast, PVP-free hydrophilic catheters utilizing Integrated Amphiphilic Surfactant (IAS) technology showed no reduction in sperm motility, offering a promising alternative for individuals concerned about fertility preservation.
