Guidelines for Recruitment Services

How NASCIC’s Project Review Committee (PRC) reviews requests for research recruitment support.

The PRC verifies ethical review status, documentation completeness, and relevance to the SCI community, ensuring alignment with NASCIC’s mission. Best practices include lived experience involvement and clear timelines and communication about what support is requested from NASCIC.

Recruitment Review Criteria

  1. Review Board Approval

    Has the clinical trial been reviewed by an appropriate Review Board (IRB/REB/ERB/CEI)?

  2. Approval Letter Provided

    If approved, provide a copy of the Review Board approval letter.

  3. Approval Is Current

    Confirm that the approval letter is still valid and current.

  4. Status or Exemption Letter

    If approval is not current, provide a status update or letter of exemption.

  5. Alignment with NASCIC Mission

    Show how the trial addresses a need in the SCI community and aligns with NASCIC’s mission.

  6. Lived Experience Involvement

    Describe how people with lived experience are involved (encouraged as best practice).

Requests should clearly communicate ethics approvals, timelines, and what support is needed from NASCIC.
